Beyond Event & Party Planning is ready to prove to clients that it is possible to embrace the environment without sacrificing

When Adele Leonard, owner of Above & Beyond, started her party planning
business, she wasn’t expecting to join the Green movement. But as someone who tries to implement a commitment to the
environment and local community in her personal & family life, Adele thought it was time to try and implement this
commitment to her business.
When Adele planned her own wedding a few years ago,
she went with a tropical theme and incorporated bamboo flatware, recycled glass, potted plants and hand made sarong's
in place of table linens. She later gave the sarongs to her guests as gifts to be worn at the beach. Adele also
served local seasonal fare and cranberry wine from a local vineyard. Expanding on the eco-friendly wedding concept, Adele
now offers Go Green wedding planner services.
Adele says that planning a green
wedding doesn’t necessarily mean huge changes for the bride and groom. Small details such as bamboo or potato flatware
instead of non-biodegradable plastic can make a difference to a couple trying to integrate their eco-conscious beliefs into
their wedding. Organic seasonal food and locally produced wine are two of Adele’s favorite things to include in a green
event. Soy based candles, vintage wedding dresses, and organic bouquets are some more ways a couple can reduce the impact
of their wedding on the environment.
Adele’s advice to those couples planning
a green wedding? Don’t get overwhelmed. You can find a way to balance your beliefs, incorporate your style, and make
sure your guests are at ease. Brides no longer have to fit the stereotype of being selfish and extravagant. Your wedding day
can reflect your values and still be special.
